The Gateway is a contemporary design of a portal used at entrances to temples and shrines in Ancient Egypt and Nubia. It has a Sun disk at the center near the top which represents the deity Ra. Ra was the giver of life on Earth and creator of the universe and was connected to death and rebirth of ancestors in these two cultures’ mythologies
